So your girlfriend’s pregnant. What are your choices?
1. You can offer to marry her and help pay for the child
- It’s not always a good idea to rush into marriage because of a pregnancy. Seek counsel from trusted family, friends, your parents, or pastor.
- At the Brazos Pregnancy Clinic, we offer parenting classes to help prepare you for this transition.
- We also have referrals for medical, legal, and financial assistance as well as other services you may be interested in.
2. You can offer to help support and raise the child
- This is a responsible choice. It shows your willingness to accept your part in the situation and love and support your child.
3. You can help your girlfriend consider if adoption is an option
- There are many couples waiting to provide a stable, loving home for a child.
- We can refer you to a licensed adoption agency to help you decide if this choice is right for you and your girlfriend.
4. You can lead your girlfriend to have an abortion
- Abortion is a serious decision. It is a medical procedure and complications may result from an abortion procedure. Legally, the woman has a right to choose abortion, but she also has the right not to. Give her time to consider her options without pressuring her to make a decision she has to live with for the rest of her life. Before you encourage this choice, we invite you to meet with one of our client advocates so you can know the facts before you encourage this choice. Call our 24 hour helpline to talk to someone or make an appointment at 817-579-1233.
